Any Bloomsday Crazies out there?

Wow...  today is crazy around here with everyone coming in town for Bloomsday!  Not a good time to work downtown, hard to get anywhere if you are on a time limit.  My daughter and I have been doing Bloomsday for the last I think 5 years and for some reason this year we decided to not do it...  I think we have just both been so busy, the thought of adding something else to our calendar didn't sound very good...  or.... maybe we were just being lazy this year...  who knows?  LOL!

Here is a photo of the Start Line last year I believe, we are no where near that when we start.. We are usually wayyyyy back in the purple section.

Here is the dreaded Doomsday Hill.  Once you get over that bridge and up this hill, the rest is a piece of cake.  Hard to see but there are people crossing the bridge in the background.

I hope the weather shapes up for all the bloomies.... Today didn't start out too bad then we had snow, then rain now it is just a bit chilly.

Are any of you blog friends coming to town for Bloomsday?

I hope everyone has a great time.  Can't wait to see the shirts this year...  I won't get one... boo....

Have a wonderful weekend friends!!  Hugs, Tina

Need your help blog friends

Hello friends!  I need your help.  I have been trying to figure this out on my own but don't think I am doing it quite right.  I want to add some tabs to my blog to list items I have for sale.

I have gone in and tried to add pages but don't know if this is the right way of doing it or if there is another, easier way.

And.....  when I post a new item for sale on the sale page, does it also post to my main page so that all my followers can see my update?

I sure appreciate any help you can give me...  This is a learning experience every day I think.. hehe..

Hope everyone is having a safe and wonderful day.. Sounds like alot of blog friends are dealing with a mean Mother Nature lately!  Tina

Etsy shop

Well, all the Spring shows are over.  There aren't very many here and they are alot slower than the fall shows... alot.

So....since I have some stuff I have made just sitting around waiting for a new home, I thought I might as well try listing just a few items on Etsy and see how it goes.  Wish me luck :0)

I figured out how to add my Etsy listings on my sidebar so check out what is there so far.

I do have some other things here on my blog that are also for sale still so please take a peak.

So, now I am going to start a few new things I have been wanting to work on for a while.

Hope everyone had a great Easter!  We sure had great weather but it was just a tease as it has been pouring non stop ever since.. Yeck...

Amazing Easter Egg Tree with 9,800+ decorated eggs

I got these photos emailed to me.  Pretty Amazing.  Enjoy!

Happy Easter!

A feast for the Easter Bunny: German couple decorate their garden tree with 10,000 painted eggs

Easter comes but once a year - but one couple have turned it into a lifetime's project.
German pensioners Volker and Christa Kraft have decorated the tree in their back garden in Saalfeld for Easter for more than 40 years.
The tree now drips with more than 9,800 colourful Easter eggs, painted with pastoral scenes and religious icons.

Each egg must be painstakingly emptied of yolk and whites, to ensure it will not go bad, before they can be hand painted and hung out for all to see.
The easiest way is to pierce two holes in each end of the egg with a hat-pin, then blow out the contents through a straw.
The better equipped can use a syringe pushed through just one hole to extract the gooey gubbins. But be cautious when handling raw eggs - they may carry salmonella.

The egg is a pagan symbol of rebirth, widely used in spring festivals before its adoption by early Christians as a symbol of the resurrection of Jesus.
For followers of Christianity they are symbolic of Christ rising from his tomb two days after his death on the cross.
In ancient times, the Zoroastrians painted eggs for Nowrooz, their New Year celebration, which falls on the spring equinox.
Sculptures in the ruins of Persepolis, their capital, show people carrying eggs to their king for the occasion 2,500 years ago.

After their kids moved out of the house, it seemed the Easter Tree would finally catch a break, but grandsons arrived and the Krafts went back to decorating their giant tree. The number of Easter eggs hung by the tree’s branches grew every year, and in 2010 it reached an incredible 9,500 eggs.

Easter Swap Goodies

I participated in an Easter Swap hosted by Samantha's Accessories and here are the goodies I received from Allison at Sew Many Girls.  Thanks Allison!

Look at this cute handmade card.
There were eggs in a nest, a photo album covered in fabric with a stitchery on the front, a crow, crow stamp, a little prim bunny, a bunny attached to a piece of quilt and some candy.
Here are a couple photos showing where I put my goodies.

Here is a photo of the goodies I sent to Allison.  I didn't want to post until now just in case she saw them on my blog.  Hope she liked everything!

Primitive Shoo Fly Screens

Here are some shoo fly screens that I have made.  They have been made to look olde and rusty.  They might not be a perfect shape or might have some small holes in them, which only adds to the primitive look.  I have added stained cheesecloth around the bottom of each and a wooden knob on the top.  Each one has a tag tied to the knob with jute.  I have 1 in each of the following sizes.
8 inch $9 + shipping
9 inch $11 + shipping
10 inch $13 + shipping
Faux cinnamon buns not included.  I do have some for sale but they aren't listed yet.

Candle Sconce Makeover

I found a set of candle sconces recently at a 2nd hand store.  They were a little more than what I wanted to spend on them but I loved the shape of these so I splurged a little.   hehe...  Here is a before photo:
Here they are after I sanded them down, painted them, resanded and aged them up.  I also added a grubby candle to each one that I made.

I was really happy with how they turned out.. What do ya think?
Now.... I am not sure if I want to keep them or sell them..hehe..

Have a wonderful weekend! Tina

Giveaway Goodies, a little Easter decor and I found my kitchen table!

I got home last night and my hubby had brought the mail in and what was the first thing I spotted?  A package...  I have been lucky lately so I knew it was a giveaway I had won.  This was from Patti at Raspberry Lane Primitives.  Right as soon as I cut the tape on the box I could smell the sweet annie....  Look at this cute crow tissue paper.. I so love crows, I was very excited about the paper.. hehe (oh, I had to charge the battery on my camera and forgot to set the date so it is definitely a little bit off... LOL)
Here is what I saw after I opened up the crow tissue paper:
I was so excited I had my hubby come in while I opened up all the little wrapped goodies in the box.  There were just so many items in here.  Look at these bunnies.. Oh my!! Aren't they just about the most precious bunnies you have ever seen?
I put all the eggs in my wooden bowl right away.  Aren't they wonderful.
Patti sent 4 blue stars with brown polka dots on them but the postman must have been playing football with my package as two of them broke.. booo.. but... I still have these two beautiful stars
Here is where the bunnies and all the carrots I received ended up.  I just love it!
and the stars ended up on my wood drying rack

All of these Easter goodies inspired me to put a few more things up.  I love to decorate for the different holidays but I have been so busy with trying to get stuff made for the craft shows I have been slacking in the decorating department.. Oooops....  hehe..
I have a little tree I keep in my kitchen all year round.  When there are no holidays I keep my gingerbread's and stars on it...  So... I got my eggs out and the Easter tags I had made and decorated my tree and I put up the Easter Dress I had made to hang by the tree.

Here is a bunny I have and I put my new eggs right next to it.
It definitely feels more like Easter!!

Since I was into the decorating I figured it was time to clean up a bit.  We have a friend coming to stay this weekend so I thought maybe I should take all my crafting supplies, sewing machine and everything downstairs at least for this weekend.  It's been a while but yep, the kitchen table was still there.. hehe

Thanks for visiting! Have a wonderful day! Tina

Sunshine today and some Funky Junk finds

I can't believe the sun is finally out...  Course they say rain the rest of the week but today.... It's Sunny!! Yahoo....

Went to a Funky Junk show this weekend.  It was really cold and windy but that didn't keep the people away...  There were some amazing booths and I loved so many wonderful things but I had to be good and limit myself.. always a hard thing but I still got a couple great things!

Here is a quilted wall hanging..  I so love it..  I knew right as soon as I saw this beauty I had to have it and at only $10 how could I pass it up.
Then as we headed inside, there were even more booths,,,, yikes...  At the first booth, I spotted this quilt in a basket.  It is a bit tattered and torn but...  look at those beautiful spring colors on it?  Yep, I have to have this one too...  Oh, what can I make with this one???  Got this beauty for $10
I spotted a couple more quilts coming out of a dresser.. The gal said she didn't want to take them home so would come down on them.  I really loved the colors on this one,,,  seemed country prim but... I had just got one.. Do I need another???  Do I?  hmmmm.. so I ask how much would you take?  It was marked at $17.50 and she said $12.50 and I just wasn't sure I needed another, then she goes, ya know I would even take $10...  but... we hadn't been upstairs yet so I said I might be back...  (I felt horrible for saying that cuz I feel like when people say that at my shows, they will NEVER be back..hehe but there were still more goodies to check out first)
So we went upstairs and checked all the great things out but nothing I had to have so we went back outside and got my quilt wall hanging that they were so nice to hold for me so I didn't have to carry it around with me...  Course as I was walking up to it, I heard a crash as some things were knocked off the display cuz the wind was so crazy and yep, it was my wall hanging... Good thing it is a sturdy one.. geesh.. hehe
So we had seen everything and my daughter asked is there anything you want to go back and get?  I said ya know, I want that darn quilt.. hehe... I figured if it was still there, it was meant to be mine.  So... here it is...  I love it..  And even though a bit tattered I have it folded up and draped over my love seat.. Not sure I can cut this one up..  but ya never know.
So, I got home with all of my treasures and my hubby hung up my wall hanging, I finally put the wooden box I got a while ago up and was changing things around and I had wished I had gotten this old red rusty kitchen gadget.. I think it is a potato masher of some sort.  So... I text my daughter and said I wished I had gotten it, boo....  Then, I had lunch with her yesterday and she pulled out the masher to give to me...  Oh my... I was so excited..Here it is.
A thanks for taking care of her after her teeth were pulled and for being at the show alone on Saturday.  What a sweet kid I have!

Anyways, that is all I bought.  There were alot more things I would have liked to have gotten but there are alot more shows coming up so ya never know what I might find at them.. hehe

Have a wonderful day!  Hugs, Tina
