Great weekend and a little something country shabby

Happy Tuesday blog friends!  Hope you all had a great relaxing weekend.  My hubby and I went and saw Thor.  We really enjoyed it.  They couldn't have picked a better person for the role of Thor.  We went to a new place for dinner, did a little shopping, and just whatever..  We did, however have to take my grandma to minor emergency.. Since she had her stroke some years back, she doesn't have much feeling on her right side and her balance is horrible so... needless to say, she lost her balance and fell and ended up breaking a rib. Thank goodness it is a clean break but the doc said has to heal on it's own and usually will take about 3-4 weeks to heal...  So, other than that...  loved being off for 4 days and sooo hard to come back to work today...  I had planned on completing more of my goodies I have started and that didn't happen.  I was a little lazy and I loved it.. hehe....

I did get a country shabby pillow done though..  I hand painted the word Dream on burlap.  There is brown damask fabric on the front and all of the back and then there is a strip of brown ribbon going down the front.  I think it turned out beautiful.  I know it's not really primitive but I did enjoy making it so I think I will venture a bit and see how these go.
Measures approximately 16" x 8" measured from corner to corner.

My Friday and Lost a follower

Good morning friends in blogland!  I am happy to say it is my Friday.  I hope you are all doing something fun for your Memorial weekend.  We usually go camping and have been going to the same place with the same people for the most part, for the past oh I would say almost 23 years...  Course things have to change, boo, don't like change, hehe... and more and more people come that not everyone knows so it's not just a spot where all of us friends from far and wide can see each other and relax once a year!  It is usually so rainy and muddy now too... Used to be so nice when we went but not lately.. So...  we decided to just stay home this year.  I am actually excited... 4 days off... no plans in site....  we can do whatever we want....  Yahoo!!

Then on to a tiny sad thing for me.  I know it is silly but I signed in today and noticed that instead of my followers going up, they have gone down.  I know I can't always post stuff that is interesting to everyone but I still feel sad.
On the other hand....I am so blessed for all of you followers I still have, for sticking it out with me and reading my ramblings.  I thank you all very much and hope you know how much I enjoy visiting with you.

Wicked, the Musical

Wow...  what a great night.  My hubby and I went out to dinner and then went and saw the mucisal Wicked.
We have only been to a handful of plays and this was by far the best.  I have always loved the Wizard of Oz and so I knew I would love this.  If you haven't read the book, which I haven't, then the story of the Witches is a little different than what you would expect.

If it is coming to your area, you should definitely go see it.  Their voices were amazing, fun scenes and the dry humor they threw in there made this just a fun show.  Can you tell we enjoyed it?  hehe

If you aren't familiar with Wicked, here is their website so you can read a little more about it.

Have a fabulous day!  Tina

Chicken Osaka - Thank you honey!

I am so lucky that I have a hubby that loves to cook....   I mean I do like to cook but mostly family recipes that I have learned to cook from my gramma.. She was such a great cook and I love to cook the recipes she used to.  My hubby is more of an experiment type cook, trying new recipes, making his own recipe.  I was busy last night making a couple salads for our daughters jewelry party she is having tonight, so he took over the kitchen and.... dinner was so yummy...

I forgot to take photos, sorry...    So here is a recipe he found

*Sauce 1
Ginger Dressing (You will be cooking the chicken with this)
1/2 Cup Vegetable Oil
1/4 Cup Orange Juice (he used Sunny D since that is what I bought him, hehe)
2 Tablespoons Balsamic Vinegar
2 Tablespoons Grated Ginger
1 Tablespoon Soy Sauce
1 Tablespoon Dijon Mustard
1 Tablespoon Sugar
1 Clove Garlic, minced (optional)
2 Scallions, chopped (optional)
Combine all ingredients and mix together.

*Sauce 2
Osaka Sauce (The Dipping Sauce)
3 Tablespoons Soy Sauce
1/2 cup Lemon Juice
2 Teaspoons Dry Mustard
3 Tablespoons Sugar
2 Tablespoons Sesame Oil
2 Tablespoons White or Rice Vinegar
1/3 Cup Vegetable Oil
Blend this together
Now that you have these two sauces made. Let's get to the cooking

You will need..............
1 1/2 to 2 Lbs. Chicken (or shrimp)
3 Tablespoons Vegetable Oil
2 to 3 Slices of Fresh Ginger (or grated ginger)
1/2 Lemon, Juiced and Zested
Chop up your chicken into bite sized pieces. Heat up your wok or deep pan.
Add your 3 Tablespoons of Vegetable Oil.
When the oil just starts to smoke add Chicken, Lemon juice, zest and Ginger.
Get the Chicken slightly browned then add Sauce No. 1 (the Ginger Dressing) Just enough to coat.
Heat through.

Serve over white rice.  We also poured some of Sauce 2 over the entire dish before we ate it.

Hope you enjoy.  Tina

Tag Sale Treasures

I am a little behind in getting these things posted but here they are.  A couple weekends ago, my daughter and I went to a Tag Sale that Selena from the Farm Chicks was putting on.
It was such a cold, windy day and there was this poor lady that had all her stuff set up outside.  She had some really great things and at reasonable prices too so we had check it all out, no wind was stopping us... hehe..
Right off the bat, I spotted two wagons she had.  I had been looking for one but most I had seen were at least $35 if not more.  Then last minute my daughter noticed a chair that had a bunch of stuff piled on top of it.  So, I snatched both of those goodies up right away.  Here is where I put the chair and my wagon!  I hope to get some flowers in the wagon here soon.  Not sure if I will keep the screen in the seat of the chair or if I will take it off so flowers can grow up through the center.
Here are a couple photos of our front garden area that we started to redo last summer and where I will be putting my new chair and wagon.  I have some other things planted but they aren't coming up yet so let's hope.
Sorry about the dried up flowers in some of my planters.... I haven't weeded or planted anything new yet cuz it's been too cold for me.
Here are some tulips I still have though, except the ones that our friendly squirrel has broken.  Little bugger...

Here are some other things that I got at the Tag Sale
The first photo didnt show how brite these towels were so here is another.
All in all I think I spent $22.50 including the chair and the wagon...  I was very excited.

Then we went to the Custer's Antique Show they were having at our local fairgrounds.
I was thrilled to finally find my lunch box to use as a money box at my shows.. and look at those cute baby shoes... Love them..

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a wonderful day friends! Tina

Have a Happy Mother's Day!

 Before I was a Mom,
I never tripped over toys
or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not
my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom,

I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind
and my thoughts.
I slept all night
.

Before I was a Mom,

I never held down a screaming child
so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night
watching a baby sleep
.

Before I was a Mom,

I never held a sleeping baby just because
I didn't want to put her down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces
when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small
could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much. I never knew I would love being a Mom
.
Before I was a Mom,

I didn't know the feeling of
having my heart outside my body..
I didn't know how special it could feel
to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond
between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small
could make me feel so important and happy
.

Before I was a Mom,

I had never gotten up in the middle of the night
every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth,
the joy,
the love,
the heartache,
the wonderment
or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much,
before I was a Mom

Happy Mother's Day!

New House shopping, Some requested goodies, and 1st Etsy sale

Wow, what a beautiful morning it is so far.. I was beginning to wonder if spring would ever really get here..  It is supposed to rain after today again but for now I love the blue skies and sunshine.

I do have to tell ya, I feel exhausted!  We have been busy helping my daughter with some house shopping..She has found one she really likes, is preapproved and ready to make an offer but man did I forget what a process this all is...  and.. how do they expect a young person buying a home to put so much money down and then pay so many darn closing costs... Woweeeeee...  These banks and lenders complain how slow they are but do they really want loans or not...  Every time we turn around there is another fee to do this or that...  Sooo... anyways...  here's to hoping it will all go smoothly from here on out and that we still have some change in our pockets and our sanity...LOL

Ok, on to some fun things I have been working on for others.

I made these flowers for a good friend of mine.  I love how they turned out so I had to make some for myself too..

And for the exciting news
I sold my first item on Etsy....  Yahoo!!!
Her Primitive Dress is all shipped and on it's way to her.  Sure hope she likes it...  I hope she doesn't mind how snug of a fit it was in the box though.. Yikes.  I was very surprised to see how small a flat rate box was and the PO lady wouldn't let me ship in a different box since the label was created online and it says Small Flat Rate Box.. Ugh...  I hadn't intended to even send flat rate but I didn't get her zip code before she purchased the item so just thought well, she will get her dress quick.
I have already ordered some boxes to have on hand so this doesn't happen again.  Let's hope she won't be disappointed or leave me bad feedback..

Thanks for visiting and have a fabulous day friends!  Hugs, Tina
